Dr. Rupinder “Rupi” Legha is a double board-certified child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist based in Los Angeles. She is the founder of Antiracist MD, which reimagines mental health care through an antiracist lens and is home of the Antiracism in Mental Health Fellowship. Her work is grounded in human rights and in resisting coercive, institutional models of care, including her own unlearning of restraints. Committed to caring for carers, she has published extensively on physician suicide and the toll of medical training. She supported the development of a community health worker–based mental health system serving 1.3 million people in rural Haiti with Partners In Health and conducted research with the Centers for American Indian and Alaska Native Health. These experiences inform her commitment to decolonizing mental health care and advancing healing approaches that center human rights, community, and self-determination.
