The forum for exploring key developments and emerging trends in mental health care.

About the conference

The 3rd Rethinking Mental Health Care Conference focuses on the growing awareness that the burden on the immediate environment of a person with mental health issues is often difficult to bear and has largely been overlooked, even though their involvement is a key element in recovery pathways.

Modern technology has also greatly contributed to supporting carers in their work and alleviating this burden by providing tools for self-help and external support.

The war in Ukraine has once again shown that, in the case of military personnel returning from deployment, the role of family and the immediate social environment is crucial in combating and preventing long-term psychological effects. A deep understanding of human rights should guide us at every step in providing services and addressing the needs of our target populations.

The conference will focus on four interrelated themes driving progress in global mental health care:

  1. (Mental Health Care) Support for Carers
Highlighting the vital yet often overlooked role of carers as a cornerstone of effective mental health support.
  2. Veteran Mental Health
Focusing on the well-being of veterans, their families, including children, and their communities.
  3. Technological Innovation in Mental Health Care
Exploring how emerging technologies are transforming mental health care delivery and expanding access to support.
  4.  Human Rights in Mental Health Care
Human rights are fundamental to mental health care, including the meaningful involvement of people with lived experience. While progress has been made, important challenges remain in ensuring rights-based approaches in practice.

Together, these themes reflect a shared commitment to strengthening support for carers, veterans, and their families, while using technology to enhance mental health care and extend its reach to underserved populations.
