Smriti Joshi is a licensed clinical psychologist and one of the first psychologists in India to receive formal training in telemental health, playing a pioneering role in the development of localized, contextualized digital mental health solutions and AI-led interventions. With over 21 years of experience in mental health care and more than a decade dedicated to advancing digital mental health, Smriti has been at the forefront of transforming how mental health services are delivered in India and globally.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Smriti demonstrated exceptional leadership by training thousands of mental health professionals to shift their practices online seamlessly. She also led efforts to train telecounselors, for a government led tele counselling helpline, who provided critical mental health support to individuals in need during this challenging period. Notably, Smriti was instrumental in developing the first set of tele-counseling guidelines for counselors and psychologists in India, ensuring ethical and effective delivery of care.
In her current role as Chief Psychologist at Wysa, Smriti continues to innovate by designing AI-driven mental health interventions that are inclusive, ethically grounded, and tailored to diverse populations. A sought-after speaker, she has presented at prestigious platforms such as the American Psychological Association and the Telemedicine Society of India, contributing to global conversations on ethical AI, telemental health, and digital mental healthcare.
Smriti also serves as Vice President (North Zone) for the Clinical Psychology Society of India and is a member of esteemed organizations including the American Psychological Association, the British Psychological Society, and the Telemedicine Society of India. Her pioneering contributions have shaped the future of telemental health in India and continue to make an indelible impact on the global digital mental health landscape.
