Dr Aparna Joshi, is an academician, researcher, interventionist, practitioner and trainer with 25 years of experience in the field of mental health and psychosocial well-being. Since 2010, she has been working as an Assistant Professor of Applied Psychology and Mental Health at the School of Human Ecology, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS). Before joining TISS, she worked with some of the leading national level mental health organisations and contributed to developing innovative mental health projects. Her research interests include
mental health and psychosocial well-being and interventions, couple and family therapy, gender and mental health, violence against women, and youth mental health. Her teaching, research and outreach work primarily builds on the reciprocal relationship between theory and practice and between academics and the field. Many of her projects are carried out in partnership with National and International organisations. She is the founder and director of two field action projects in mental health at TISS: iCALL, a leading national-level technology-assisted mental health and psychosocial well-being initiative and Sukoon, an initiative addressing couple and family well-being.
